Hoad & Bonard

George HOAD

Having always been a keen sailor, George Hoad took his passion for boats further when he completed a City & Guilds in boat building at the Lyme Regis International School of boat building, he then went on to serve an apprenticeship with Specialized Marine where he built 10 of the top 12 International 14’s in the world championships.

Having mastered the materials and techniques used in modern boat construction he went on to work in a more traditional boat building environment, restoring and maintaining 1920’s Solent sunbeams where he refined his skills of working with wood and began to use and experiment with new techniques.

His final move in the boat world before bringing all that he learnt into our homes was with Northshore Yachts where he was responsible for the internal fit out of multi million pound yachts. Working in these, often constrained, spaces meant that every corner and unused space was re worked and re-engineered until the most efficient and aesthetically pleasing solution was found. During the interior styling phase he worked with high quality wood, veneers and many other hi tech materials to provide a comfortable, practical yet contemporary feel, which created a luxurious atmosphere on board. The need for precise measurement and fit out has taught George to use space wisely and that understanding clients specification is essential to achieving a high quality product that fulfils the clients vision.

George has now worked in the kitchen design, production and cabinetry making arena for over 10 years. During this time he has managed many projects from complete house refurbishments to bespoke cabinets and cupboards. Delivering a final product in line with the client’s vision and specification remains at the forefront of what he looks to achieve.
